How long does an appointment last?

The first assessment usually takes around 1h30min, up to 2 hours if necessary. Every follow-up physiotherapy session lasts about 50 or 60 minutes, depending on the case.

What do I have to bring to the first appointment?

Please remember to bring your list of medications, MRI, X-rays and other results (as well as the images!), and any indication your doctor may already have given to you regarding your rehabilitation.

Even if it is not necessary to wear special clothing on your physiotherapy assessment, you may feel more comfortable in shorts and a tank top or T-shirt. If the problem involves the lower extremity, it can be useful to see the shoes you usually wear or the running shoes you're used to.
Musicians should bring their instrument, as well as the scores of the repertoire with the highest technical demands. If you're a pianist or organist, you may be asked to make a short video of you while playing. Please ask for instructions when scheduling your assessment.

Is there parking available?

Yes. There is a private car park service just across the street, as well as ca. 70m/75yds ahead of this first one. It's also possible to leave the car on street parking spaces on Neusa Brizola Ave. or Luiz Só Str.

Is your clinic accessible for people with disabilities?

Yes - it's possible to access the reception through the garage ramp just next to the main entrance. Please inform the receptionist about your situation at arrival. There is also an elevator in the building.

How can I get to your clinic using public transport?

Just across the street, there is a bus stop for the bus lines 429 and 432 (starting downtown), as well as T7 (South-North direction). Ca. 220yds/200m from the clinic, several bus and minibus lines transit along Protásio Alves Ave. Please exit near the corner of Lucas de Oliveira Ave.

Is your physiotherapy covered by the health insurance companies?

I currently offer only private physiotherapy, which is not reimbursed by the national complementary health insurance companies. However, most foreign patients do get at least a partial reimbursement from their travel or international insurance, depending on the case. Reports and receipts can be issued for this purpose. Please check with your insurance company.

Do I need a doctor's referral?

In Brazil, physiotherapists have legal permission to be first contact practitioners. Therefore, there is no need to see a doctor before a physiotherapy appointment. However, many international insurers request a doctor's prescription for physiotherapy in order to reimburse the treatment costs. Please check with your insurance company in that regard.
Sometimes, I can issue a referral to a medical doctor if the clinical condition requires so. In some cases, this can already happen during the first assessment or even at the phone while describing your condition. In other situations, it can be appropriate to change to a more competent professional of another specialty, if the procedure needed lies beyond my scope of competence. An interdiciplinary approach sometimes is the key to ensure a successful resolution.

Do you offer electrotherapy (TENS, ultrasound, etc.) and hydrotherapy?

No, I don't use electrotherapy or hydrotherapy. The treatment does also not involve acupuncture, dry needling, relaxing massages or cosmetic procedures.

How long will I have to go to physiotherapy sessions?

Every case is unique, and our health is sometimes more complex than it seems. Mostly, it's already possible to state a prognosis at the first assessment appointment. I always try to manage the condition with the smallest possible number of sessions. Nevertheless, some conditions make it difficult to establish a fixed term for the treatment, or there are changes in the condition that make it necessary to review the prognosis.

Do you offer home physiotherapy?
